Purple-licious

We (Chris) painted Rebecca's room this weekend. Originally, it was pinkish-purple. Then yellow. Then it went back to purple. And purple it is! ;) Check out Chris's work:

Interesting, the purple almost matches her witch costume.

Here she is, ready for bed. Daddy hung up her princess pictures and she was thrilled. =)

He did a fantastic job!

Thank you, Veterans!

Leonardtown hosts one of the largest Veterans' Day parade in MD, and Rebecca was thrilled to find out her girl scout troop was going to partcipate in the parade! =)

Here's her troop ready to go!

Rebecca kept telling me she'd be on a float, and I kept telling her, no she was walking... Well, I was wrong! LOL. She got a ride in the back of a decorated truck. ;)

Happy Halloween!

Chris came down with a cold early in the week, and I started feeling crummy on Thursday, but between the two of us, I think the kids still had a great Halloween. =)

Since we got sick, we pushed carving pumpkins until the day before Halloween, but they came out amazing, thanks to Daddy and his amazing drawing/carving skills!

Rebecca was really excited about it this year:

Halloween04

and this is how Jaden participated:

Halloween03

Since giving up his binky, naptime has been hit or miss. This was one day it was a miss and he fell asleep on the way home... So he really didn't want to even look (or wake up, ha ha ha).

But they were both excited at the outcome. =)

Halloween01

On Thursday, I started to feel crummy, but I took some medicine and managed to pull myself together to help with Rebecca's Halloween party at school, and then later the parade. Here's Rebecca enjoying her treats in class:

And here's Rebecca proudly parading her costume at school:

And this is how Jaden entertained himself during the parade:

Then it was time for the real deal! Introducing, Rebecca the Witch! I curled her hair and you would have thought she was given a full day at the spa. She was SO thrilled with herself. =)

Halloween11

Halloween12

And Jaden, the Racecar driver! You would have never guessed he threw a HUGE fit 15 minutes before these pictures. He was NOT happy about putting on the jumpsuit... tough! ;)

Halloween13

Halloween14

We had our friends, Kyla (Wonder Woman) & Ryan (The Hulk!) join us again this year, and also our friend Cormac (motorcycle man). Everyone was so adorable!

Halloween15

Eric and Lisa insisted they didn't dress up as twins... ;)

Halloween16

HD Motercycle man and Hotwheels racecar driver admire each others costumes. =) So cute!

Halloween17

Then the trick or treating began!

Halloween18

We managed to make it up the entire street this time, walking for 1 1/2 hrs. The kids were so cute! When we got home, a few more pumpkin pictures:

and then we checked out our loot...

Back to the Patch...

We went back to the BowlesFarm, where we've gone since Rebecca's first Halloween. The kids had a great time, although no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get them to sit together long enough to get a picture of them! So here are a few of my favorite shots...

This is the first year we actually went through the corn maze. Um, I think I'd still be IN the corn maze if Daddy hadn't been there to see us through. =)

The kids had a blast running through the corn.

PumpPatch03

Jaden thinks he knows the way!

  PumpPatch01

we made it to one of the two bridges in the middle...

PumpPatch04

Look at all that corn! we're surrounded!

  PumpPatch05

No, we weren't trying to see over the corn... Jaden got tired. =)

PumpPatch06

The animals at Bowles Farms. =)

PumpPatch07

Then we took a barrel ride or two.

PumpPatch08

PumpPatch16

PumpPatch09

Then we checked out some of the other fun things to do... Like the John Deere tractors...

PumpPatch10

The cornbox (like a sandbox, but with corn) - I think Jaden could have stayed there all day if it weren't for...

PumpPatch11

The hay pit!!!

PumpPatch12

PumpPatch13

Then we picked out our pumpkins!

One last attempt at a picture together.

Here's to a happy Halloween!

Officially a Daisy Girl Scout!

Rebecca joined the Girl Scouts. She's attended a few meetings and has really had a good time. Tonight she was officially inducted into the Girl Scout family, and into Troop 3396!

She had to help say the pledge:

Gs1

Her part was "Respect Authority." And then she put the petal to the metal, er, I mean with the rest of the flower. =)

Gs2

Then she was pinned by an older Girl Scout.

Gs3

She's official!

Gs4

Trying to get the fingers in the right position...

Gs5

I'm so proud of her. The Girl Scouts is such a great organization. She did great saying her part of the pledge loud and clear, and she seems really excited to go camping. =) I'm excited for cookie season, myself! ha ha ha. =)

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Today Rebecca's class went to the T&A Farm to check out thier pumpkin patch. It was a glorious day (mid-60s and lots of sun). We learned about many animals and then got to go into the corn maze. Here's some of the children of the corn. =)

PP3

My kid of the corn. =) Before we went through the corn maze.

After the maze, we went to learn about corn and things that grow on the farm.

After lunch, they went through the mini-maze, and then got to pick out a pumpkin.

I think I've forgotten how to use my camera!

I think I've taken maybe 10 pictures this month! I feel like I need an October recap... =)

After a month working insane hours for a proposal, we finally submitted our response on Oct 2 and I feel like ever since, I've been trying to get back to "normal" - normal sleeping hours (instead of coming home from work at midnight), normal schedules with the kids, plus all thier activities (Rebecca is a girl scout now!) and school stuff... I feel like if I'm not filling out a form for something at school, I'm filling out a check!

The first weekend "back" I took Friday off to take Jaden to his 3 yr checkup. He is in the 90% for height and 25% for weight! Tall and skinny. =)

We also all went to the denist. Rebecca has a teeeeeeeeeeeeeny cavity, so we have to go back and get it sanded off (not enough to even drill, thank goodness), and I'll be fitted for a guard to help with the constant grinding I do in my sleep. =) Jaden did fantastic at his first trip, he allowed them to count and brush his teeth. We all came home with new toothbrushes...

Rebecca joined Daisy girl scouts and loves it. I need a picture of her in her uniform. =)

Then, last weekend, we decided to paint Jaden's room. The finished project looks great, but it was the worst project ever. We ran out of paint, I bought the wrong paint to finish the job (right color, right brand, but premium over the regular, which made it look glossy where I painted on the corners and edges! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. we buy more paint to finish the job and the paint wasn't mixed very well, so it came out a different color! Chris repainted the whole thing over and now it looks awesome. Check it. =)

In other news, Jaden gave up his binky! Not willingly, that's for sure! the first night was HORRID, but he hasnt cried since.  I am so proud of him!

The Gift of Gab

A little funny story about my girl.

The past couple of weeks, she's brought home half her lunch (well, half her sandwich, anyways). She tells us that due to Centers, they've been late to lunch and only had 7 minutes to eat. (I'm not sure if it was really 7 minutes or not).

After the third time, I thought to myself, I really need to email the teacher and ask her what is going on...

Last Friday, when I came home from work, Chris informed me that Rebecca was on "restriction" to be on her best behavior for the rest of the weekend because he had caught her lying to him. She'd brought home another half eaten sandwich, and told him that they were late again. I decided as soon as I had a moment, I was going to email the teacher, but then, of course forget.  a few hours later, some how the conversation came up again and Chris said, "do you know how I figured out she was lying?" I said "no." he said that when she came home on Friday with half her lunch and told him that they were late again b/c of Centers, he said to her (something along these lines), "You know, I am going to have to call your teacher and talk to her about this. This keeps happening, and I want to know why."

She immediately confessed that she wasn't telling the truth. The truth was, apparently, that our daughter really enjoys talking with her friends at lunch. So much, that she was sacrficing time to eat so she could talk...

She is her mother's daughter! ;)

I think it's a little funny that she was smart enough to cover for herself. Man, they learn young!

Can't beat 'em? Join 'em!

Is it just me or does Halloween and Christmas (yes, I've seen Christmas stuff out) come out earlier and earlier every year?? School barely starts before the Halloween stuff starts lining up on the shelves, and I guess while stores stock for that, they figure might as well throw out some Xmas decorations too.

So, it's not even October yet, and already Rebecca and Jaden have gotten into the Halloween spirit.

Last week, they made a gingerbread haunted house with Wheezer:

Cookies01

  Cookies2

And this weekend, we made some halloween sugar cookies.

Cookies03

Rebecca has been wearing that witches hat for a while now. =)

Cookies04

Jaden lines  up his cookies...

Cookie7

and wanted no help. on the other hand, Rebecca made a "pattern" from her cookies...

Cookies05

Cookies08

and was very serious about it.

guess i wasn't paying enough attention because Jaden couldn't wait to cook them. THe raw stuff was pretty good too. =)

  Cookies06

into the oven...

Cookies10

mmmmmmm, they look good!

Cookies011

Jaden samples one of many! we had to cut him off. ;)

Maybe I should tell Chris to skip the halloween lights and go straight to Christmas! ha!

The Littlest "Big Boy" Bike

The town of Wellesley never ceases to amaze me, what they will throw away. Wheezer and Nana found this at the "specialty of the house" (AKA the take it/leave it section of the town dump) and brought it home for the kids. While both ride it, a few weeks ago, Jaden hopped on it andd just started to PEDAL like crazy. he is so awesome on this thing, and we are just amazed at how he rides and rides it!

Bike1

It's got to be the smallest bike I've EVER seen. The wheel isn't even 12 inches!

But that doesn't slow him down, he LOVES to ride along with Rebecca...
